MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

 

WMTC continues its 2004-2005 season in high style with one of

Shakespeare's best-loved comedies, Much Ado About Nothing.

 

 Directed by Ned O’Reilly, Much Ado About Nothing will be set in classic Shakespearean Italian renaissance. With a terrific cast featuring many Woodstock Theatre favorites and welcome new talent, along with stylish costumes and simply breathtaking sets, this production of the lusty, lighthearted Much Ado About Nothing will kick off 2005 with romance, wit and laughter.

  
 It's so easy to fall in love, unless you're Beatrice and Benedick, who'd rather trade witty insults than wedding bands. It's so easy, unless you're Hero and Claudio, heading full-tilt for a storybook marriage, but hitting a nasty snag at the altar. Much Ado About Nothing takes place in Messina, a town full of scheming relatives, salacious scandal, costume parties and a bumbling local constabulary. Faked deaths, concealed identities, lovers' quarrels and foiled plots all transpire before, in true Shakespearian fashion, all is wittily and lovingly resolved.

  
 "This being the first Shakespearean production at the Opera House by either resident company, we were determined to make this production a welcome addition to our Season Ticket, and offer exceptional classical theatrical entertainment for the local community of theatre-goers," commented board-member L.F. Gibson.

  
 Much Ado About Nothing opens February 4th and runs through February 26th, at the Woodstock Opera House on the Historic Woodstock TownSquare. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 6:00 pm. There is plenty of fine dining and shopping available on the Woodstock Square, so plan on making the visit to Woodstock a day AND evening of it!
