A young bride who lives above a bank with her husband who is the
assistant manager, innocently sends a mail order off for some
Scandinavian glassware. What comes is Scandinavian pornography.
The plot revolves around what is to be done with the veritable
floods of pornography, photographs, books, films and eventually
girls that threaten to engulf this happy couple. The matter is
considerably complicated by the man's mother, his boss, a
visiting bank inspector, a police superintendent and a muddled
friend who does everything wrong in his reluctant efforts to set
everything right, all of which works up to a hilarious ending of
closed or slamming doors. This farce ran in London over eight
years and also delighted Broadway audiences.
"Titillating and topical." NBC TV.
"A really funny Broadway show." ABC TV.
WMTC Presents “No Sex
Please, We're British”
Woodstock Musical Theatre Company kicks
off the New Year and continues its 2005-06 Season with “No Sex Please,
We're British”! This uproariously funny British bedroom farce, written
by Anthony Marriott and Alistair Foot, is for the naughty, but nice.
Directed by Tony Aiello, it runs at the historic Woodstock Opera House
from February 3 – 25, 2006.
Newlyweds, Peter and Frances Hunter have more than the
usual mother-in-law and financial problems. Their lives are complicated
by a surprising delivery from the "Scandinavian Glassware Company" that
turns out to be a lot more provocative than glassware. From that moment
on, life becomes increasingly crazy as they attempt to return the
package, avoid prison and put a stop to any further delivery of
"glassware."
A nervous bank cashier, a mother-in-law romancing the
bank manager, an auditor, a police superintendent, the comings and going
of the delivery man and a couple of ladies of the evening add to the
growing pandemonium.
This production features many top area talent
including: Yvonne Alton (McHenry), Neil Arsenty (Woodstock), Jeff
English (Crystal Lake), Karen Jorgensen (Crystal Lake), Cliff Kucharski
(Cary), Paul Lockwood (Woodstock), Daniel W. Murphy (Woodstock), Sutton
Skowron (St. Charles), Katie Teper (Algonquin) and Joe Weyland
(Woodstock).
Tickets for all events are available in person at the
Woodstock Opera House Box Office, by phone at (815) 338-5300, Monday –
Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

WOODSTOCK -
Sometimes even the best intentions can lead to disastrous consequences.
"No Sex Please,
We're British," playing at the Woodstock Opera House, takes the seed of
that lesson and rolls it through a couple hours of madcap comedy until
it's a gigantic, rumbling ball of hilarity.
The plot starts
simply enough, as Frances Hunter (Sutton Skowron), newly married to
husband Peter (Joe Weyland), thinks she'll earn an extra buck by selling
housewares by mail order.
The twists start
only minutes after the curtain opens, because, when the first shipment
arrives, Frances finds it's anything but glassware she's signed up for.
First, there are
envelopes filled with dirty pictures. The videos and books - and
something far more horrifying - are not far behind.
Frances and
Peter enlist the help of the eager, but not terribly bright, Brian
Runnicles (Neil Arsenty), who works at the bank and was the unfortunate
fellow who brought the first box inside to begin with. Runnicles does
his best to rid the Hunters of their shameful wares, but winds up making
an even bigger mess of things.
