Videotape and
Photographs
The Woodstock
Opera House, owned and maintained by the City of Woodstock, strictly
forbids any audio or video taping of either dress rehearsals or
performances. Recording and taping are prohibited by our contracts with
the licensing agencies who lease us the shows. At the final dress
rehearsal, the WMTC will hire a photographer, who will be taking photos
of the entire show and of the full cast, crew and orchestra on stage
immediately after the show. Proofs of the photos will be available on
the second weekend of the show and you can order individual photos or
complete disc. Thursday Dress Rehearsal is also a night family may be
permitted to see the production. Opera House policy, licensing agents
and the Company may have to restrict this viewing on a show-by-show
basis.
Ushers
Anyone interested in ushering should contact the
Woodstock Opera House Box office at 815-338-5300.
Set
Construction
Set
construction takes place most weekends at the Storage and Rehearsal Area
(S.A.R.A.). Volunteers who can handle a paintbrush, a staple gun or a
hammer are always needed. Please tell the Production Coordinator,
Technical Coordinator or Stage Manager if you know of someone who may be
interested.
Crews
Those not in
the casts of the show are welcome to work on any of the backstage
crews. We need volunteers to help with make-up, hair, costumes,
dressers, stage crew, properties, fly crew, light and sound. You can
help prepare for the show or work during the production. Please tell
the Production Coordinator, Technical Coordinator, or Stage Manager if
you know of someone who may be interested
Costumes &
Make-up
WMTC rents most
of the costumes for the shows. You may, on occasion, be asked to find
some article of clothing for your costume out of your own wardrobe and
we ask that you find your own shoes, as we usually cannot supply them.
You will not be asked to pay for or sew your own costumes but you will
be responsible for taking care of them and keeping them clean during the
run of the show. Each person is to supply his or her own personal
make-up. It is unsanitary to share these items. WMTC will supply any
specialty make-up and wigs.
Children’s
Coordinator
For WMTC shows
that include children in the cast, we will have one or two children’s
coordinators backstage. These people will help them get ready on time,
change clothes, and be in the right place for the entrances. The
coordinator will help to keep children amused and quiet backstage.
Rehearsal and
Backstage Visitors
Rehearsals and
Performances are complicated. Members of cast, crew and orchestra are
all backstage at the same time. To avoid confusion, we allow NO
backstage visitors before or during performances. This helps us keep
some security for our people and our stuff backstage too. A sad truth
is that sometimes things “disappear.” Visitors are welcome to come
backstage after any performance. Visitors are discouraged from
attending rehearsals without permission from the Director or the Stage
Manager.
Tech Week
Tech Week is
the most difficult time for any production. We have only FIVE nights to
get it all together. On Sunday we “load in” the set, props and the
costumes. We have our first “sing-through” with the orchestra. Monday,
we have a run-through on stage and with as many of the set changes and
lighting as possible. Tuesday, we add orchestra and costumes.
Wednesday, we add make-up. Thursdays, we put it all together for one
last rehearsal with photos. These nights will be long, please plan
accordingly.
WMTC Website
WMTC owns an
extensive website featuring cast listings, show information and cast
photos for each production. These are kept in archive form on the site
with our Season Listing, company info, newsletters, audition notices,
Production archives, etc. We also cater to the public by offering, box
office information, seating charts, parking maps, local restaurant and
lodging info.

Annual Season
Banquet
As a thank-you
to all who make WMTC possible the Board of Directors holds a formal
banquet the third weekend of May. This is a night for all productions
to come together and share experiences of the season and have a lot of
fun. There is a dinner, awards and dancing. As a participant you will
receive a formal invitation in April.
WMTC Board of
Directors
The Woodstock
Musical Theatre Company is a not-for-profit corporation run by an 11
member Board of Directors. WMTC is a separate, resident performing
company of the Woodstock Opera House. You join WMTC by being in or
working on one of our shows in any capacity. There are no dues or
monthly meetings and membership stops when you are no longer active in
the group. Profits from our shows make it possible for us to donate
money to the Woodstock Opera House, for improvements such as new
headsets, lighting equipment, piano, carpet, etc.
